Last year Olivia Newton-John announced that her cancer had returned, but it turns out this wasn’t the first time the disease came back.
The singer now shares that she secretly battled a recurrence in 2013, explaining on Australia’s “Sunday Night” that she discovered a lump in her right shoulder after a car accident that she initially thought was the result of her seat belt, but later discovered was a recurrence of her breast cancer. As for why she decided to keep it a secret, she shared, “'I thought 'It's my life' and I just decided to keep it to myself.”
Olivia is now battling the disease for a third time, undergoing radiation therapy, and using natural remedies as well, using marijuana to help ease her pain. “In California, it's legal to grow a certain amount of plants for your own medicinal purposes,” she says. “I'm very lucky that I live in a state where it's legal.”
As for whether she’s worried the cancer will come back again, she offers, “I believe I will win over it, and that's my goal."
